When an office gets renovated, the old furniture becomes the thing standing between the contractor and the start date. It is too big for the dumpster, too used to sell, and too heavy for staff to move.
We did three furniture removals in Wilmington the week of September 13, 2026. One was a business. Two were homes, both on the same day.
An office renovation in the Highlands
A business in the Highlands was renovating and needed the old furniture out so the work could move ahead. Desks, storage units, filing, and the boxes and drawings that come with an office in the middle of a move.

Commercial jobs downtown and along the Riverfront have their own rules. Freight elevator slots, loading dock windows, and a building manager who wants a certificate of insurance before anyone props a door. We are licensed and insured, we can send the certificate to your building, and we can work after hours so your staff is not stepping around us.
Two homes on September 18
The same week, on the same day, we cleared furniture from two Wilmington homes. One in Forty Acres, one out by Mill Creek.

A sectional like this one is the job people dread. It is heavy, it does not bend, and it has to come out the way it came in. Our crew carried it out and loaded it on the trailer. The customer did not lift a thing, which is the part worth paying for.
Wilmington makes furniture removal harder than it sounds
The row homes off Union Street, through Little Italy and up into the Highlands were built long before anyone worried about getting a sleeper sofa back down a turning staircase. Narrow stairwells, tight landings, doors that open the wrong way.
We walk the carry-out before we touch anything, then pad the banister and the door frames on the way through. If something genuinely will not make the turn, we say so at the estimate, not halfway down with your wall in the way.
How to get rid of furniture in Delaware
You have a few options, and the honest version is that they are all fine depending on your situation.
- Donate it. If the piece is clean and undamaged, a local donation center may take it. Many will not take mattresses or anything torn.
- Sell it. Works if you have time to answer messages and people who actually show up.
- Curbside. Depends entirely on your town, and bulk pickup rules vary. Check before you drag it out.
- Call a crew. This is what we do. We carry it out from wherever it sits, load it and take it, and we route usable pieces to local donation and metal to recycling.
What it costs and how fast
Furniture removal starts at our $199 minimum, which covers a single piece or a small pile, and scales with volume and labor. Stairs count as labor. A third-floor walk-up is more work than a curbside pickup, and the quote says so before we start.
Estimates are free and on site. Same-day service is often available in Wilmington, and same-day slots go early, so morning calls do better than afternoon ones.
Businesses and property managers
If this is a whole suite rather than a few pieces, see commercial and office cleanouts, tenant turnover services and property management cleanouts. We also handle construction debris once the renovation starts.
For homes, this is our furniture and mattress removal service, and you can read about furniture removal in Wilmington or everything we do in Wilmington.
