If you're asking how much junk removal costs in Delaware, the honest answer is that it depends on how much space your stuff takes up in the truck and how much work it takes to get it there. That's not a dodge — it's the actual pricing model, and once you understand it you can predict your own quote pretty closely. The estimate is free either way, so you never have to guess.
Why there's no single sticker price
A junk removal job isn't a product on a shelf. One customer needs a single sleeper sofa carried out of a first-floor living room in Middletown. The next has a full basement in Wilmington packed to the ceiling after thirty years, all of it coming up a narrow set of stairs.
Same company, same truck, same crew. Wildly different jobs.
Any company that gives you a firm price over the phone before seeing the pile is either padding it to protect themselves, or lowballing it and planning to "adjust" once the truck is in your driveway. We don't do either. We come look, we tell you the number, and the number doesn't move unless you add to the pile.
The four things that move the number
Every quote we write comes down to four factors. That's it.
Volume. How much room your junk takes up in the truck. This is the big one, and we'll get to why in a second.
Material type. A truckload of cardboard and old clothes is not the same as a truckload of concrete, dirt, or shingles. Heavy debris hits weight limits long before it fills the box, and it goes to different facilities at different rates. Electronics, tires, mattresses, and refrigerant appliances all have their own handling rules.
Labor and access. Two guys and forty minutes is one thing. Two guys, ninety minutes, a flight of basement stairs, and a doorway that needs a door taken off its hinges is another.
Disposal and recycling fees. We pay to drop everything we haul. Those fees vary by material and by facility, and they're baked into your quote — not tacked on afterward.
Volume is the main driver, and here's why
We charge by the space your stuff occupies in the truck. Not by the hour, not by the item.
The reason is simple: truck space is the thing we actually sell. Once the box is full, that's the trip — whether it took twenty minutes to load or two hours. A quarter of the truck costs a quarter-truck price. Half is half. A full load is a full load.
This works in your favor in a way hourly pricing doesn't. If our crew is fast, you don't pay less, because we already told you the price. But if the job runs slower than we expected, you don't pay more either. The risk of a bad time estimate is ours, not yours.
It also means you can sanity-check your own quote before we arrive. Picture your pile stacked into a pickup bed. Two of those? Three? You're in the neighborhood already. Our pricing page walks through how our pricing works with the load sizes laid out.
What makes a job harder
Labor is the second lever, and it's the one people underestimate. Volume tells us what we're hauling. Access tells us what it takes to get it out.
Things that add real work:
- Stairs. Especially the tight-turn basement kind. A basement cleanout where everything gets carried up a switchback is a genuinely different job than a garage where we back the truck to the door.
- Long carries. Third-floor apartment, no elevator, parking down the block. Every trip counts.
- Tight doorways and turns. Sectionals and box springs don't bend. Sometimes the fix is taking a door off, sometimes it's dismantling on the spot.
- Dismantling. Sheds, swing sets, workbenches, built-in shelving. Anything that has to come apart before it can come out.
- Hot tubs. The classic example. A hot tub gets drained, cut apart, and hauled out in sections, often across a deck or through a fence line. There's a reason hot tub removal is its own service.
- Heavy or awkward single items. Safes, pianos, cast iron tubs, riding mowers.
None of that is a surcharge. It's just part of the number we give you up front.
Why we quote in person
Photos help. Phone descriptions help less than people think.
Here's what goes wrong. A photo shows the front of a pile, not the back. It doesn't show the four boxes behind the couch, or that the "garage" is packed shoulder-height and the path to the door is a maze. It doesn't show the stairs. It doesn't show that the dresser is solid oak and takes two guys and a strap.
We've done enough jobs — 2,600 and counting — to know that phone guesses go wrong in both directions. Quote too high and you overpay. Quote too low, and somebody's standing in your driveway having an awkward conversation about the "real" price. Neither is how we want to work.

The $199 minimum, and why we publish it
Our minimum is $199.
That's the floor for a job — the smallest load we can send a licensed, insured, workers-comp-covered crew and a truck out for and still cover the fuel, the wages, the insurance, and the disposal fee. Below that, the math doesn't work for anybody.
We publish it because it's the one number that's honest to publish. It doesn't depend on your stairs or your driveway or what's in the pile. One mattress and a broken dresser? You're at the minimum. A garage full? You're not. Everything above that floor scales with volume, and we tell you the exact number in person, in advance.
We'd rather you know the floor before you call than find out when we show up.
What "no hidden fees" actually means
That phrase gets thrown around a lot, so here's what we mean by it.
You get a flat quote before work starts. Not an estimate, not a range, not a starting point. The price.
Stairs are already in it. So are long carries, dismantling, and tight doorways. We looked at all of it before we quoted. We don't come back at the end with an access fee.
Disposal and recycling fees are already in it. You're not getting a dump receipt added on later.
You approve any change. If you decide mid-job that the shed's going too, great — we'll tell you what that adds and you say yes or no before we touch it. Nothing lands on your bill without you agreeing to it first.

Send photos. Wide shots, not close-ups. Back up far enough to get the whole pile. If it's a room, get the corners.
Be honest about access. Stairs, parking, distance from the door. Telling us it's in the basement isn't bad news — it's just information, and it makes the quote accurate the first time.
Mention the heavy stuff. Appliances, hot tubs, concrete, dirt, roofing. Those change which facility we're driving to, and that's real money on our end.
